Signal launches Parsons Platform

Signal has made-live Housing Vermont's Parsons Platform website.

Parsons Platform is an exciting new initiative from the Burlington-based non-profit housing development company that aims to improve energy-efficiency of residential structures through collection and analysis of a wide-range of energy-related data collected by remote on-site sensors.

Signal has been working with Housing Vermont since 2012, when then-Vice President Kenn Sassarossi turned to Signal's Craig Bailey to redevelop the organization's public website. Work quickly expanded to include a complete redevelopment and expansion of Housing Vermont's intranet-based asset management database, which provides the foundation for the Parsons Platform, under supervision of Vice President for Asset Management and Portfolio Initiatives Eric Schmitt.

Named for Housing Vermont Energy Project Manager Trevor Parsons, who began the initiative before he passed away in 2015, Parsons Platform is a project that employs a wide-range of technologies and skillsets all overseen by Director of Energy Services Charlie Van Winkle and Building Systems Analyst Steven Antinozzi.

Signal Chief Technology Officer Phil Marshall has been instrumental in developing an infrastructure to handle the massive amount of data that's constantly flowing into the system from hundreds of remote sensors; and building user-friendly dashboards to make sense of the data. Signal partner Mark Engelhardt of Intuitive Engineering has been working with Housing Vermont to install and configure remote sensing devices in housing developments across the state.

With the official launch of the initiative's marketing site at, Housing Vermont has started in earnest its expansion of the platform as a service to other similar housing development companies outside Vermont.
