ImageIn The Beginning
Signal was one of Vermont’s first web development companies
We opened our doors in May 1985 to provide desktop publishing services and high-resolution output. But by the new millennium we’d evolved into full-time web developers and quickly built a reputation for expanding the boundaries of what the web can do.
We serve dozens of client companies with a broad range of Internet services.
A part of the Montpelier business scene for decades, Signal went virtual in 2013. Now serving customers from remote offices in north-central Vermont via voice over IP (VoIP), email, chat and video conferencing, we can meet customers' needs on the turn of a dime.
Signal doesn't just help build the Internet. We live it.

You won’t find a single sales person or account rep at Signal
What you will find are professional web developers — each with decades of experience turning clients’ needs and wishes into robust forward-looking sites.
The person at Signal you work with planning your site will be the same person you’ll work with throughout development, go-live and beyond. That’s the efficient and cost-effective path. And because we know websites are works-in-progress, we’re always available to maintain and improve them into the future.
Starting a project can be daunting, but it doesn’t need to be
At Signal, we guide you through the process. We understand every project is unique with its own set of challenges, but our basic approach remains the same:
We meet with you to learn what you're looking for and discover
the goals you and your company want to achieve.
2. Plan for success
Creating a well thought out plan on how best achieve your goals can save time, money and make for better results.
3. Design / Build / Test / Launch
Once a plan is in place, we start the Design, Develop, Test and Launch Process, which is when all the magic happens.
4. Follow up
Track and analyze, to evaluate if we're meeting the project goals.
How much is a website going to cost?
All websites are different, similar to homes — likewise, costs vary. Building a two-bedroom one-bath ranch house is different from building a seven-bedroom six-bath manor with indoor pool.
Signal can help you succeed at either end of that spectrum — and everywhere in between.
Our process starts with a free consultation to assess your goals, and often includes a written proposal describing the scope of work and a cost estimate for your project.
Signal bills clients for actual hours worked, and is always eager to describe options and strategies to best meet your goals while minimizing costs.
