Growing a Business Website: Fix the Basics First

For about 10 years Jakob Nielsen has been telling the web development community to focus on the basics, and on the customer. One of his favorite admonishments, to site owners and designers, is "you are not the user."

Clear content, simple navigation, and answers to customer questions have the biggest impact on business value. Advanced technology matters much less.
